The inspiration for 'Always On My Mind' comes perhaps mostly from a conversation I had with someone who's journey with prostate cancer has been remarkably similar to mine. Not for the first time, being able to talk about what I was going through with someone who'd been along a similar road, had a profound effect on me.
Even though we have the love and support of families and friends, coming to terms with prostate cancer and the impact it has on our lives, is inevitably a personal and challenging journey. I've certainly found being able to share my story* with other people whose lives have also been affected by prostate cancer to be wonderfully helpful in so many ways.
Because of this, 'Always On My Mind' is designed to be somewhere where we can share our experiences and our stories...somewhere where we can know we're not alone...somewhere where sharing our journey not only has the potential to benefit us, it also has the very real potential to benefit others.

WHY THE NAME?
It's perhaps self-evident, but the name ('Always On My Mind') comes from personal experience...the experience being that since being diagnosed with prostate cancer, one way or another, dealing with it has led to it always being on my mind.
Even if a PSA count ends up being low enough to be of little or no concern, having the count checked regularly into the future means it never completely leaves your mind.

POST SCRIPT
This blog is of the people, by the people and for the people whose lives have been affected by prostate cancer. As far as we know, it's unique in that it's not sponsored by any professional bodies or medical organisations.
Experience tells us that talking about our journeys with prostate cancer and sharing our stories can be really helpful...not just for us, but also for many others.
If you think you might like to share your story and would like to know more, please

Perhaps in common with many others, my story isn't finished yet. I will add updates as and when I encounter any significant milestones.
